Joy Shane is a state-certified, veteran educator with over 30 years combined experience as an English teacher, health teacher, adjunct faculty member at Southern Connecticut State University & Quinnipiac University, student teaching supervisor, and certified life coach.  She specializes in Executive Function challenges and uses a unique approach to help students transform their weaknesses into strengths.

Initial Evaluation (60 mins) : $239

Individual (50 mins) : $149 per session 

Q:  Do you offer on-line or in-person academic assistance?

A:  Both! Students who live in or near New Haven County are invited to visit our beautful office in North Haven.  Not in the area? Not a problem! Learn concepts from your tutor in an easy-to-use digital classroom.

Q: Do you have tutors in Fairfield County?

A: Yes! We are excited to have a  small data base of exceptional educators all over the state of Ct. 

Q: Would you be willing to collaborate with my child's teachers?

A:  Yes! Though a key objective in tutoring is always to help the child advocate for him/herself,  that skill usually requires a collaborative process. While helping students to gain a better understanding of a subject,  input from the classroom teacher is quite valuable.  In terms of content, students benefit from our ability to creatively change the "how" not the "what." 

Q: Can I use your services 'as needed?"

A:  Absolutely! Tutoring is flexible. Student’s can set up weekly appointments or request help studying for a big test.  We love assisting with research papers and special projects as well! Group rates available.
